Soccer Party fun

We are big fans of Amy from Giggleberry Creations. Not only is she the creator of some of the most gorgeous fabric bunting going around, she is seriously clever when it comes to putting together a party!

This one created for her son's second birthday is just so much fun. With a soccer theme and every detail taken care of - what's not to love?! My favourite detail is probably the scoreboard backdrop - so original!

Thanks for letting me share Amy. Make sure you drop by the Giggleberry Creations blog for all the supplier details and some more photos.

A stylish 60th for a stylish lady

A few weeks ago we had the privilege of arranging a stylish 60th birthday afternoon tea for a very stylish lady. Her lovely daughter contacted us for assistance in putting a modern high tea together for her mum and her friends.

We chose a colour palette light blue, deep red and salmony pinks, with a modern floral design for the invitation (it obviously didn't have the blurry black bits on it - we have blurred it for privacy reasons).

With 12 ladies in attendance, we put together a small savoury table inside, featuring zucchini slice, assorted pastries, home made cheese and ham scrolls and dainty finger sandwiches.  We also placed assorted jars and vases on the table, full of fresh flowers.

We also styled a dessert table, which we positioned outside on the sunny deck. This featured white chocolate cake pops, sweet slices, vanilla cupcakes with butter cream icing, fresh berries and then of course, scones with jam and cream.

The client had set up the backyard with a selection of chairs and tables, to which we added some hanging lanterns and flowers. The space really was divine - so pretty, calm and stylish.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day Lorraine - and happy birthday!

Prima Ballerina - Part 2 (the desserts!!)

As promised, the second part of the Prima Ballerina party we styled for my daughters 6th birthday. If you happened to miss part one - you can catch up here.

Tonight - the dessert table! As my daughter see's a lot of the parties we prepare for clients, she had pretty high expectations of what she wanted for her party. She made it clear (in a nice way, of course!) that Alex was to make her a ballerina cake, she wanted cupcakes, lots of lollies and lolly pops. Luckily we were able to deliver!

I did forget last night to share the invite with you all... it was the starting point for the party and set the scene for the theme. Our little ballerina, which we drew, also featured through-out the party on the decorative printables. We will also have this package available to clients shortly.

So, here is the table!

And now the details...

We had some super cute 'chocolate barres' made by Candy Soirees - they were a real hit on the day, with the kids and parents alike.

The popcorn and berries were served in these super cute polka dot cups from Sweet Little Birdy. They were the perfect size for little ballerinas and made serving the kids very easy.

The cake pops and cupcakes were made by Alex. As usual she did a fabulous job - with the kids going back for seconds and thirds!

We also had some ballerina sugar cookies, made with Bubble and Sweet's recipe. It was so easy to make, kept beautifully, was easy to decorate and best of all - tasted delicious! I only wish I had taken more photo's as they looked really cute in the little bags with personalised notes on the top...

Inspired by Candy Soirees, we designed these personalised lolly pops for the guests to take home. They were so popular that I know we will offer them again to other clients.

These were the cute little 'ballerina' lolly bags that I made for the kids to take their loot home in. I was keen to do something a bit different and wanted it to tie in with our theme, so when I came across this trim I knew it would work perfectly! I did contrasting colours of red with pink trim and pink ones with red trim. They were all finished with a little name tag and some tulle bows.

Each bag contained some ballerina stickers, a 'bendy' ballerina and of course, they were able to fill their bags with treats from the table to take home.

We had an adults buffet as well which featured; a fruit platter, some mini muffins, mini ham and cheese croissants and cupcakes. The highlight of this was the divine flowers from the lovely girls at Velvet Lily Florist.

I originally wanted pink and red flowers, but being the week before Valentines day this proved to be more difficult than I had expected! But the girls at Velvet Lily had a brilliant idea of using some gorgeous girly flowers in pink and white and then tie it into the theme with some matching red spotty ribbon. It was a great idea and worked beautifully!

The cake was also made by Alex. Gracie wanted a ballerina cake and loves the 'dolly varden' style. I don't know how she has made it to 6 and not had one of these cakes... anyway - this was her request and Alex delivered! Not only did it look divine, it tasted delicious!! It's a chocolate mud cake with a chocolate ganache filling...yummo!

Finally, I forgot to mention that our verandah was covered in pink and red honey comb balls (from Mon Tresor), lanterns and tissue paper pom poms.  I didn't get many good shots of it - but here is a taste!

And one final shot... again - one of my favourites. Taken during a quiet moment during the party, she looks so peaceful, calm and happy, with her hint of a smile.

Thanks for indulging me with all these photo's! We promise to put together some tutorials over the coming week and share them with you - just let us know what you would like to see!!

Prima Ballerina Party - Part 1

It's been a while since we posted here on our blog... not because we don't love you guys - but simply because we have been so busy creating Inspired Occasions! Even though this party was held back at the start of the month, I am still super excited to share it with you all.

This party is a bit extra special, as it was for my own ballerina's 6th birthday. We have had a big year; this last 5th year of her little life, dealing with all sorts of challenges, including finding out my precious girl has Aspergers Syndrome.

We were pretty determined to make this party everything she could have possibly wanted... and to be an opportunity for us to CELEBRATE just how special she is, how she is so much more than a child with 'special needs', with all those who love her dearly.

So when she asked for a prima ballerina party, complete with a 'real' ballerina and a stage (with curtains and lights) for her and her friends to dance on - how could we say no?!

There are so many photo's from the party that I will share them across two posts - otherwise I know you will all loose interest before we get to the end! Today's one will be about the set-up and tomorrow, I will post about the dessert station.

Firstly, the outfit had to be right. She is a fashionista at heart and knows her ballet through and through. It did take a visit to the dance store before she believed me that they won't sell pointe shoes to a 6 year old - no matter how much she wants them! So, we compromised... a big full tutu, lots of sparkles, some divine shoes and then the perfect finishing touch - a custom made ballerina headpiece.

The headpiece was designed by Leigh at Pocket Full of Posies. She really did a fabulous job - working from the invite, she chose fabric and flowers to match the colour theme and then added a gorgeous big feather. The ballerina loved it and even kept it on all day - which is unusual for her! If you are looking for anything similar, make sure you check out Leigh's facebook and etsy shop.

I wanted to include as much tulle as possible into the party, so there were touches of it throughout out the party. We also incorporated lots of polka dots in pinks and red, which when combined with the custom printables we designed (you will see more of these tomorrow night), kept it all tied together.

The tulle pom poms on sticks were inspired by the wonderful Ah Tissue. They were a wonderful addition to the children's table as centrepieces. I made the wreath on the door out of the tulle scraps - it was a lovely way to greet our guests!

The table itself was set with divine spotty plates by Sambellina from Sweet Little Birdy, vintage glass bottles and spotty straws - which matched perfectly!

Without a doubt, the highlight was this wonderful stage that was created by my fabulous step father, Fred, from Sage Building Services. When I asked him to see if he could put together a stage for the party, I never expected such an elaborate design!! It was a full days work to put it up and even came with a roof.

We will have a similar design available to hire out to clients parties soon... can't wait!!

We were able to track down a 'real' ballerina in Andrea from Toepaz Dance Studio's. She really did a fabulous job with the kids and I would highly recommend her! As you can see - the birthday girl thought she was pretty amazing!!

Finally, we wanted to give each of the little guests a special gift to take home with them. The children that we invited to the party - 9 girls and 1 little boy - are all very special to us. They, and their families, have provided us with so much support and importantly, friendship that we wanted them all to feel special. So, for each of the girls, I made a pink and red tutu. And for the 1 little boy, I made a red cape featuring his initial on the back.

They were displayed on these cute little clothing racks and each had their own name tag. The birthday girl loved taking the guests up to the racks as they arrived and helping them find their special tutu/cape.

I know it's a long post, so thanks for making to the end!

Tomorrow night I will share the desert table with you, along with a complete list of my suppliers. Over the coming weeks, I am also hoping to share the 'how to' on the tutus and/or cape should anyone be interested.

I will leave you with one final photo.... this one is one of my very favourites from the day... the birthday girl and her bestie (Alex's daughter!!).
